Marius Strydom - Journalist, scriptwriter, playwright and technical writer.
Words are my favourite toys.
Whether you need someone to create original content or just rewrite your own copy — I have more than 18 years’ experience as a journalist, scriptwriter, playwright and technical writer.
I use my experience in fields ranging from construction to entertainment to create technical documents and write entertaining, informative articles.
Writing Articles, Scripts, Stage Plays and Construction.
My first writing job was as a reporter with the Afrikaans daily newspaper BEELD in 1990. After four years of adrenalin pumping newspaper reporting, I jumped into a freelance career with reckless abandon in 1994.
Since then my work included writing and translating various technical documents, copy writing, scriptwriting – for both drama and corporate videos, stage plays and magazine and newspaper articles.
Some of my more memorable projects were writing protocols for medical research, shortly after I translated and voiced a video script for farming equipment.
Having completed a four year licentiate in speech and drama in 1991, I also ventured on to stage and screen as actor, stage manager and set builder.
I broadened my technical knowledge and understanding of the construction industry by working part time as a builder and later as a carpenter.
Some of my other work experience included voice-overs, producing and directing stage plays, training voice artists and negotiating contracts as an actors’ agent.
Cooking, Carpentry, Camping and Fishing.
Being insatiably curious, my interests cover a delicious brew of subjects.
I am equally happy doing serious cognitive work or standing up to my elbows in an engine. Alternatively, I may cook a three course dinner after I finished building the bookshelf.
Sometimes, it’s good to just pitch a tent on the beach and head off with a fishing rod.
